Dear Parents and Carers,
Due to the current severe red weather warning and very high temperatures, we will be closing the school early on Wednesday 24th June and Thursday 25th June to keep pupils and staff safe.
All pupils will attend their normal morning lessons and will still receive their full curriculum during this time. Lunch will also be provided as usual. We anticipate temperatures rising in the afternoon so will end the school day before temperatures become too uncomfortable
Collection arrangements
School will close at the following times:
- Primary pupils: 1:15pm
- KS3 (Years 7, 8, 9): 1:20pm
- KS4 (Year 10): 1:30pm
All primary pupils must be collected at 1:15pm from their wet weather dismissal point.
This includes Year 5 and Year 6 pupils who would normally walk home alone, as they may otherwise be returning to an empty house.
Nursery
There will be no afternoon nursery session on Wednesday or Thursday, as it would not be safe for pupils to attend for a shortened session.
What we are doing in school
We are already taking steps to keep pupils as comfortable as possible, including:
- Reducing time spent outdoors
- Providing regular access to water
- Allowing Primary pupils to wear PE kits
- Allowing Secondary pupils to wear white shirts with formal trousers or skirts (no blazers or ties)
We appreciate your understanding and support during this period of extreme weather. If there are any further updates, we will contact you as soon as possible.
